What’s For Breakfast
I’m working this weekend, and I woke up late, so I missed my morning oatmeal. Being the kind and considerate pharmacist that I am, I got some McGriddles for the techs and I. Looking at it now, it prolly wasn’t the wisest decision. But it did stay in my stomach all day, so I didn’t have to eat lunch.

And I didn’t even need to get these, because one of the techs brought it these huge brioche cinnamon rolls.

How Is…Sockeye’s

Much like the fish, not much to look at, but quite tasty nonetheless. Sockeye’s serves fish, burgers, BBQ, and Mexican. Smartly I stayed away from the Mexican side of the menu (what’s a wet Burrito? Aren’t they all wet?), and since my filipinoness can’t resist a tasty pig, I got the pulled pork.

Pulled pork is hard to screw up. It was full of porky flavor, but I don’t know if I got the last of it, because a lot of my plate had the crispy outer crust. So it wasn’t as tender, melt in your mouth texture. A minor complaint. But the house BBQ sauce was good, it had a strong vinegar base. The coleslaw was also vinegar based, completely lacking in mayonnaise, so a refreshing sour crunch.
Who Earned A Silver Star Today
Some of you have complained about the front page design. If you find the text/pictures too small, then you can easily click the comment the comment and/or read more button all the way at the bottom of that particular post, or if you want to see all the past posts then you can click the archives button at the top there. And, as you may have noticed, this new design enables me to quietly regress daily posting to a far more sporadic schedule.
How Much Does It Cost

So after much deliberation, OH, THE CARDERY! is giving up. Sad news for us, good news for you. Because we will now be giving away all our cards for…

Although there are a few stipulations. Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for delivery, and the card must fit in a 6.5″ by 4.25″ envelope (folding is always an option though). As you prolly remember, you can request whatever you want, but I always reserve the right to ignore your request and do whatever I feel like (no complaining, it’s free).

We’ve never really made much of a profit on our cards (I was too lazy to write up a business plan, mostly because I never really had a plan. It’s not like I saw myself opening up an Etsy or anything. That would be much too much work. And we either had to increase our prices or increase production significantly to justify continued operations.), but more importantly I, at my day job, am not exactly saving the world. It’s more frownies than smilies. And I’m not saying that I can save the world with my cards, but they have at least a higher percentage of smiles, than telling patients I can’t fill their alprazolam early. Also I think my cards turn out better when I’m giving them away, maybe because there’s no pressure to please the client. So hit me up, and a free personalized card could be yours.
I did think about the devaluation of my cards now that they are free, but honestly I don’t care, and as I learnt in school my self-esteem isn’t based on what you think of me, wait is that self-esteem or self-worth. Which is the better one? Know that I will apply the same care and thought into each card as I did before.
#36 Goodbye Flapping Crane

Hey, do you want to describe a little bit about your design motivations?
Yes, I can totally go into my process.
You’re not going to call it that are you? It makes you sound like like a pretentious blowhard.
But I am.
Yes, but you shouldn’t advertise it.
Okay, fine. I’ll just write about how I wanted something with the movement of waving goodbye. So naturally I thought of the flapping wings of a bird. I also wanted to give the recipient of the card the reward and satisfaction of constructing the card. And as you can fold the card up to form a bird and then unfold, symbolizes packing and unpacking of your belongings when you move. The creases in the paper are almost like your memories, they persist long after it’s been unfolded, even if you flatten it under a book for a few days. Or I could just say that I wanted to pull your tail.

What Are You Listening To
If your the type that waits to buy music when they actually come out, then you should be on the look out for these two albums, which coincidentally comes out on my birthday. (Gentle Reminder, July 7!!)

According to the Decider Chicago, Discovery (is Vampire Weekend + Ra Ra Riot) is described as “members of two hot indie properties unleash a cheeky summer collabo.” I suppose that is an apt description. It is a whole lot of electronic goodness, with a vocal delivery that verges on early JT (Caucasians trying to do R&B).

Slow Club, is like this, all cute and folky (and dueting on all their songs).
